THRESHOLD - T400

The Threshold T400 is one of many Class A Threshold amps that still draw much reverence today. To many audiophiles, the T400 and its other Class A siblings from Threshold are unbeatable in sound quality, design and longevity. There is a certain power in its guts that seems to draw out the best in any system (especially when they are all well matched together). It has impressive control, well loaded bottom end, tube-like warm midrage and a well defined top end. A Threshold preamp is an ideal matchup but any preamps with low output impedance will work nicely too. Power output of the T400 is a very conservative 150W in 8 ohms and doubles up until it reaches 600W in 2 ohms. If you can find another pair and drive them as monoblocks, you can squeeze 450W of Class A magic in 8 ohms or a thundering 900W in 4 ohms.
